If you remember, Sony shared some of the key features of the PS5 with the users, along with the virtual launch it held in March. During this event, the developer firm especially focused on the PS5’s storage unit.
During the event, how fast the 825 GB NVMe SSD will be on PS5 was revealed by PS system leader Mark Cerny. In this regard, Cerny pointed out that a standard hard disk uploads 1 GB file in 20 seconds and underlined that PS5 will load a 2 GB file in 0.27 seconds. At the same time, Cerny also announced that this SSD on PS5 can reach 5.5 GB / s read speed.

How Accurate is Sony’s Claim?
PlayStation 4 is a console that uses hard drive technology that is more than 50 years old . Hard drives are also incredibly slow, especially when it comes to accessing data. While a typical hard drive accesses data in about 10ms , this value is around 0.1ms in SSDs.
So yes, consoles will be switching to SSD technology, which PCs started to use 10 years ago, by 2020 and they will finally be 100 times faster in storage. So Sony’s claim is right about storage. On the other hand, it is not possible to say the same about central processor, graphics processor and memory.
