With this tutorial, learn how to play PS4 from your iPhone and optimize the video quality of the stream.
How to configure the PS4 Remote Play app on iOS?
The good news is that setting up PS4 Remote Play on your iPhone or iPad is very easy. To do this, you only need your iOS and access to your PS4, then you just have to follow these 4 steps:
Download and install the PS4 Remote Play app on your iPhone or iPad.
Open the app and enter your PlayStation Network credentials. You will then be asked to enter the 8-digit association code, which will be given after step 3.
On your PS4, go to Settings → Remote Playback Connection Settings , and make sure that the Enable Remote Play checkbox is checked.
Now enter the 8-digit code on your iOS, the application will search your PS4. Once detected, log in and play!
If the application can not find your console, then follow these three steps:
On your PS4, go to Settings → Remote Play Connection Settings , and select Add Device , a code appears on the screen.
On your iOS, tap Manual Recording and enter the given code.
Finally, validate with the Save option , the two devices should now be paired.
Improve your gaming experience
Technically, you are ready to play, but to be completely we recommend you to change your streaming settings, in order to gain fluidity, and use a MFi controller, to play like on your console.
Adjust streaming settings
After your setup, and before you stream, we recommend changing the streaming settings. To do this, from the app, select the cogwheel placed at the top right, then go to Video Quality for Remote Playback.
The default is standard (540p), which is pretty good for an iPhone, you can even upgrade to 720p or 1080p. However, if you own a PS4 Pro, then this resolution could have a negative effect on fluidity.
A relatively slow internet connection is enough for a resolution of 540p, however you will need a better speed (at home and wherever you are) to get a near-fluid experience of 720p or 1080p.
In addition to setting the resolution, you can also adjust the frame rate from the Settings menu. The higher it is, the better your gaming experience will be without lag, but for that you will also need a very fast connection.
Use an MFi controller
Although you can play with the official DualShock 4 controller and use PS4 Remote Play from a PC or Mac, the same can not be said for iOS.
To get around this problem, Sony has created touch-screen controls that simulate the PS4’s DualShock 4, however they are not the most accurate.
For a better gaming experience, it is better to use an MFi controller, such as the Nimbus SteelSeries , it will allow you to play almost the same way as with a DualShock 4 controller.
“Almost” because all MFi controllers n have not been designed for this purpose, and they lack some buttons, for example, you may not be able to access the Share, Options menu or trigger an action.
