1. The first thing you should do is download the mHotspot application here. During the installation process, you will be offered to install other software (bundleware), just select Decline.
2. Uncheck the bundleware then select Next.
3. To run mHotspot, you need at least .NET Framework 3.5 (this notification will appear if your laptop does not have .NET Framework 3.5). Therefore, select Download and install this feature and wait for the download process to complete.
4. Open the mHotspot application. Enter the hotspot name, password and max clients (maximum number of users that can be connected). For Internet Source, select None. Then select Start Hotspot.
5. The hotspot has been successfully run but cannot be used for internet connections.
6. To set up a hotspot so you can connect to the internet, you need the internet connection source. For internet connection sources, you can use a modem. Next enter the Control Panel then select Network and Internet.
7. After that select the Network and Sharing Center.
8. There you will see 2 active networks. Please click on the modem network, for example, Cellular (Indosat). The name may be different because maybe the modem/internet provider that we use is not the same.
9. After that select Properties.
10. On the Sharing tab, check to Allow other network users to … then select Local Area Connection * 12 then select OK.
11. After you check again, then the Access type option will appear writing the Internet that indicates that your hotspot can be used for the internet.
2. Connect with Hotspots
Now we try to connect to the hotspot that you created earlier. Activate your WiFi then connect to the hotspot (as the name implies) then enter the password. Then select Connect.
It works! Now you can surf using the hotspot.
Other uses of Hotspot
By making the laptop a hotspot, anyone within the signal range can access the internet from various devices such as cellphones, laptops, and tablets. In addition to personal use, hotspots can also be designated for businesses such as cafes, salons, restaurants, coffee shops, and others.
Hotspots for these types of businesses are usually intended to boost business profits indirectly. If you are able to provide a fast internet connection besides friendly service, logically consumers will also feel more comfortable so that eventually many of them will become loyal customers.
