Download Linux Mint: It’s official, the long-awaited operating system Linux Mint 19.2 “Tina” is now available for download before the official release on the weekend.
Earlier this week Clément Lefebvre, Project Manager Linux Mint, announced the official launch of Linux operating system Mint 19.2 “Tina” (in tribute to Tina Turner ). Thus, the distribution will be available with all desktop variants, including Cinnamon, MATE and Xfce.
How to Download Linux Mint 19.2 “Tina”
Note that if you can download the Linux Mint 17.2 ISO, you can not upgrade from an earlier version until the release is officially announced. This will be made possible later this week.
Indeed, the final ISO images of Linux Mint 19.2 have been placed on the main download server. So you can download them now and install the operating system on your personal computer if you do not want to wait for the official announcement later this week.
This always happens before the official release of a new major release of Linux Mint. This is because all download mirrors take a long time to download the new ISO images to their own servers.
It also means that these ISO images are identical to the final version and are available for 64-bit and 32-bit computers.
What’s new in Linux Mint 19.2 “Tina”
The new Linux Mint is based on the long-term version of the Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS “Bionic Beaver” operating system . In addition, Linux Mint 19.2 “Tina” comes with the latest version of the Cinnamon 4.2, MATE 1.21 and Xfce 4.2 desktop environments and uses the Ubuntu 4.15 Linux kernel.
Linux Mint 19.2 “Tina” is also available with a multitude of improvements:
- Improved kernel management in the update manager.
- The software manager can recover missing GPG keys and can scan / delete duplicate sources.
- Reduced RAM consumption for the Cinnamon office.
- The “Mint” menu now distinguishes duplicate applications (for example, flatpak, snap).
- New parameters of the scroll bar.
- New “Boot Repair” tool included in the ISO.
- “Recent Documents” is enabled by default.
- Blueberry applets allow you to disconnect / connect faster associated devices.
- Xed supports switching comments and comment blocks.
