Established in 2013 byAGIDandGovernmentand activated in 2016, the SPID, acronym forPublic digital identity system, is what allows Italian citizens to directly access the services of the Public Administration and the private entities that link them Online with a singledigital identity(username and password), which can be used from any device connected to the Internet.

Who can request it

SPIDcan be requested, free of charge, exclusively by Italian citizensoldresiding in Italy or abroad.

For the application you need:

  • A valid e-mail address;
  • the usual mobile number;
  • a valid identity document (passport, identity card, …);
  • health card with tax code.

How to request the SPID

To get itSPID you must first choose anIdentity provider(Aruba ID, Infocert ID, Poste Italiane ID, Tim ID, …) and register on the site by following 3 easy steps:

The best SPID providers


ArubaIt has four methods to request the SPID.

A) byremote digital signature (free): Download the ad Aruba ID, sign with your digital signature and signed recharge; therefore, only a valid digital signature is required;

B) withHealth insurance cardOCNS (free): You must enter your Health insurance cardwithCNS or yourNational service cardon the smart card reader connected to your computer. You need:

  • a smart card reader;

C) withElectronic Identity CardYOU (free): You must bring your CIE closer to a NFC readercontactless. If you need say:

2) InfoCert ID

InfoCertprovides four ways to apply forSPID:

A) in line withdigital companyactive (free) for which are required:

A digital or remote signature device;

  • a special reader if the digital signature is activatedElectronic card;
  • a valid identity document;
  • the Health Card.

B) child onlineCNSActive (free) (National Service Card) for which it is requested

  • the CNS;
  • a smart card reader;
  • a valid identity document;
  • the Health Card.

C) child onlineVideo recognition( at the expense of15,99 € + VAT) for which are required:

  • a valid identity document;
  • the Health Card;
  • a computer, tablet or smartphone with Webcam.

RE)recognition in personin an InfoCert Point and you need:

  • a valid identity document;
  • Health insurance card.


Poste Italiane IDprovides seven ways to requestSPID:

A)In-person recognition– You must register on the Poste Italiane ID site and have on hand:

  • Your e-mail;
  • your phone number;
  • the Health Card;
  • a valid identity document.

B) withElectronic document(CIE or electronic passport): you must register in the AppPOSITION IDavailable for Android and for iPhone on devices that have technologyNFC. Are required:

  • the CIE or the Electronic Passport;
  • the Health Card;
  • the Post ID app.

C)with SMSon certified mobile phone: is aimed at account holdersBancoPostaOAmerican Expressthat they have certified their mobile number; you have to register by entering your credentialsposte.itand the verification code that you receive in the certified mobile number. Therefore you need:

  • the credentials;
  • a certified mobile number;
  • An e-mail address.

D) withBancoposta reader: is aimed at ownersBancoPostaand letterPostamat; you must register with credentialsandVerification codedisplayed on the player. Therefore, the following is necessary:

  • the credentials;
  • An e-mail address;
  • a BancoPosta and Postamat reader;
  • a mobile number.

And withCNS– You must register by connecting the smart card reader or USB key to your computer, for example, entering the PIN when prompted. You need:

  • Lettore Smart Card;
  • CNS;
  • Email address;
  • Cell phone number;
  • Health insurance card;
  • valid identity document.

F)with digital signature– You must register and use the digital signature to sign the application form. You need:

  • digital company;
  • Email address;
  • Cell phone number;
  • Health insurance card;
  • valid identity document.

G) withrecognition in person: if you have started the request in onePublic deskYou can complete your registration using the activation code received and, if you have one, the activation packet received at your email address. Therefore, the following is required:

  • the activation code;
  • An e-mail address;
  • the Fiscal Code;
  • the activation package;
  • your phone number.


TIM ID: applicationSPIDprovides four recognition methods:

A)with CNS or Health Card( free ); you need:

National service card;

  • Health insurance card;
  • PC with smart card reader.

B) In-person recognition(free): you have to make an appointment and go to Tim’s office closest to those available. You need to have with you:

  • a valid identity document;
  • the Health Card;

C) withQualified firm(free): you use your own qualified electronic signature or your digital signature and you need:

  • a PC with a smart card reader;
  • a USB Token;
  • a mobile number.

RE)webcam recognition(cost of Euro 12.08 Euro): the recognition is carried out through a computer or smartphone equipped with a video camera and working microphones. You need:

  • a PC or smartphone equipped with a video camera;
  • a valid identity document;
  • Health insurance card.
