As a casual gamer, you may be looking for ways to improve and become better at a specific game, or maybe you just want to improve your gameplay skills across the board.
The Do’s and Don’ts of Online Gaming
Games like Fortnite, Valorant, or Apex are all types of games that are of the same genre, so the concept of the game is usually the same. Chances are, if you can tweak your gameplay skills, then you’ll be able to ascend the ranks in all these games!
Whether it’s online gaming, such as playing Fortnite, or upgrading any other skill, the best way to improve and hone any skill is with practice. The more you practice, the better you get at something.
But with gaming, there are also some other aspects that you need to factor in that will either help or hinder your entire gaming experience. To find out what the do’s and don’ts are of online gaming, keep reading below.
Play At Your Level
One of the easiest things to do when you’ve started becoming comfortable with the rules of a certain game is to get ahead of yourself and start hitting above your weight.
What we mean by this is that most games have a rank or level system of some kind that lets you know where you stand in a league. It’s easy to want to try and play against stronger opponents, but sometimes that does more harm than good.
By challenging extremely elite players, not only is there a high chance of you being wiped out almost immediately, it might even put you out of the game altogether, which is the last thing we want happening.
By joining with players that are of a similar level to you, it helps you to grow at a comfortable pace whilst also meaning you can unlock perks and rewards. Growing at a steady pace is much better than trying to shoot up the ranks in the span of a few days and failing miserably!
Camping At Spawn Sites
Another extremely outdated tactic that you should avoid if anyone has advised you to do so, is camping near spawn sites. Typically, this was a tactic adopted in the early Call of Duty days, but it’s quickly become one of the most hated methods, and will probably result in you being kicked from the match, as well as being blocked by other online players.
Apart from not being a fair way to play (because camping at a spawn site means that whenever someone respawns you can instantly kill them), it doesn’t actually do you any good in terms of improving your gameplay skills.
You might move up the ranks in numbers, but on a more literal level, you won’t be honing your skills or learning any new tactics, which will look especially bad when you’re playing with friends in a squad setting.
Invest in Good Equipment
If you seriously want to move from casual gamers to something more serious, it’s worth upgrading your equipment to produce better quality content. You might even decide that you want to stream your gaming sessions, and it could really help you grow as a creator if you have some good-level equipment.
One of the biggest upgrades worth making in our opinion is investing in a good headset. Not only will it mean that you won’t be disturbing anyone around you (which is key if you’re planning long gaming sessions), but it also means clearer communication with your teammates which allows for better planning and a quicker relay if there’s a change in plan. The last thing you want is to miss something that someone has said because your speakers didn’t pick something up.
Another key factor that can ensure a smooth gaming experience is by making sure that you have a good and stable internet connection.
Not only will it mean that the frame rates refresh faster and the quality of your game will run as smoothly as possible, but it also means that there are minimal chances of lag and your internet crashing. For streaming, we’d recommend using a wired connection to ensure the best quality.
Practice with Friends and Have Fun!
The last but also the most important tip we have to offer is to make sure you spend lots of time playing with your friends. Sure the big leagues are a fun challenge, but remember, most FPS or third-person shooter games have 1v1 or private matches as an available option.
So set low stakes, or get rid of them all together and play with your friends! Not only will you get the practice in without realizing it, but it also means you get to spend time with them and make some unforgettable memories along the way.
