Huawei introduces Kirin 990 5G which is claimed to be the world’s first 5G chipset or System-on-Chip (SoC). This chipset was created with 7nm + fabrication. This chipset was introduced with a chipset of the same name that did not have 5G support.

“Kirin 990 (5G) is the first 5G SoC in the world, and will give users the ability to access exceptional 5G connectivity. One step faster in the first year of 5G commercialization,” said the CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group. Richard Yu.

“To meet customer needs for an enhanced 5G experience in this era, Kirin 990 (5G) has developed its performance and power efficiency, AI computing, and ISP, enhancing the mobile phone experience to the next level,” explained Yu.

Carrying a 5G modem design that is integrated Kirin 990 5G chipset is claimed to have lower consumption.

It was explained that Kirin 990 5G is the first full frequency 5G SoC that supports non-standalone and standalone architecture, as well as TDD / FDD full frequency so that it can support devices on a variety of network frequencies.

Claimed also by the Balong 5000 modem 5G connectivity capability, Kirin 990 5G provides the highest download speed or downlink rate of 2.3 Gbps and the download speed or uplink peak rate of 1.25 Gbps.

Huawei also still implements AI NPU support in the Kirin 990 and Kirin 990 5G chipsets. Huawei claimed that the Kirin 990 5G became the first flagship SoC to contain a dual-core NPU with an architecture named Da Vinci. In it embedded large NPU cores and small cores.

It was explained that large NPU cores support high performance and power efficiency in heavy computing activities. While small cores are used for applications with low power consumption. Kirin 990 comes with an architecture of two large cores and four small cores at a frequency of 2.8 GHz.

Kirin 990 uses GPU Mali G-76 and a new feature called Smart Cache which is claimed to save bandwidth and reduce power consumption. About the gaming experience, Kirin 990 5G is said to have Kirin Gaming Plus 2.0 features that automatically optimize the capabilities of the device.

Kirin 990 5G chipset is also said to bring the latest camera capabilities with ISP 5.0 support that brings block matching and 3D (BM3D) flitering and noise reduction capabilities to produce brighter and sharper photos in minimal lighting conditions.

Kirin 990 5G chipset promised Huawei will be available in September along with the introduction of the latest Huawei Mate series. Previously reported that Huawei in the near future will release Huawei Mate 30.

Not only announced the latest chipset that will be present on the latest smartphones. Huawei also announced its flagship wireless earphones, Huawei FreeBuds 3. Accessories designed using the Kirin A1 claimed to offer premium audio quality with support for strong and stable wireless connectivity.

Huawei FreeBuds 3 is also claimed to be the world’s first wireless earphone that has real-time active noise canceling support.

Huawei also announced that the Huawei P30 Pro product, which is one of the most popular features, will have a new design with two colors. These two colors are Mystic Blue, inspired by the shadow of the sky in the sea, and Misty Lavender which is like the color of the beach at sunset.
