Ghost Recon Breakpoint Guide: First Steps And Tips To Survive

In Wildlands we had a considerable skill tree and arsenal, but in Breakpoint, it is deeper. Breakpoint implements a new progression system with classes, levels, weapons, accessories and clothing with quality and abilities …

In this chaos of numbers, buffos and classes, this guide of first steps of Ghost Recon Breakpoint aim to be a help for new players who wish to venture into tactical shooter.

What is Ghost Recon Breakpoint?

Ghost Recon Breakpoint is a tactical third and/or first person shooter that focuses on reconnaissance and stealth, but without depriving players of different, more aggressive game modes.

Unlike other video games such as Battlefield and Call of Duty, or The Division 1 and 2 for not leaving Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy family, Ghost Recon Breakpoint tends to be a slower video game that requires coordination, strategy and skill. In this respect, it is similar to what we have seen so far in Rainbow Six Siege.

A breakpoint has bet on survival and a much greater specialization for the Ghosts, thus offering 4 classes that we can change at any time: Field Medic, Assault, Panther and Sniper.

Each class has its basic skills, but the skill tree is shared among all classes, thus ensuring greater versatility and customization. This ensures that the class is tailored to the player’s play and that two Field Doctors (for example) are not necessarily the same.

Within the skill tree itself we have three types of improvements: Passive effects, advantages and abilities. Passive talents and abilities work at all times or in specific moments, while for the advantages we will only have 3 spaces in our character menu and we will have to choose.

I recommend exploring the character, skill, and customization menus, as they are the cornerstone of character progress. Knowing all this, what should be the first steps we take when taking control? What are the best tips?

Welcome to Aurora!

Aurora is the new paradise location that Ubisoft has prepared for us at Breakpoint. Don’t be fooled by its beauty, Ghost Recon Breakpoint is not as friendly a video game as Wildlands.

This time we started alone, badly injured and without equipment. The Wolfs play at homeand have the numerical, weapons, technological and strategic advantage at all times. We are no longer facing simplenarcos, but well-trained elite soldiers.

Survival must be the priority

The injury system is much more punishing for taking damage of any kind. In Breakpoint, we will suffer physical effects when our life decreases: Lameness, difficulty in aiming, less resistance … Collecting raw materials and finding resources such as syringes should be the priority.

With the raw materials, we can manufacture medical resources, as well as offensive equipment and edibles, which will give different benefits.

Also, remember to carry your canteen always full, as the resistance will get worse the more effort we make and the damage we receive.

Inventory Management: A Constant at Breakpoint

Learning to manage our inventory is another of the keys to Breakpoint. Medicines and groceries are important, but no one wants to engage a tank with an empty inventory of RPGs, frag grenades, and EMP, for example.

During our adventures, we can also collect items to make items, in addition to obtaining materials by breaking weapons and clothes that we no longer use.

Having a complete and orderly inventory will allow us to face a wider range of situations. Each object has its moment.

Level system and team scoring

In Ghost Recon Breakpoint we have different levels within theleveling system. On the one hand, the enemies will have a level depending on the area and the type.

This limits where we can go, who we can fight and requires us to improve our character and equipment. The character will have an equipment level, which will depend on the average level of the equipped pieces.

Each weapon and piece has a level. They will also have different colors. In the beta, I got to try the white, green and blue ones. Each piece will have its own special abilities:+5 Staminaor+10 Headshot Damage, for example.

  • White: They do not have special ability.
  • Greens: They have a special ability.
  • Blue: They have two special abilities.

As in Division 2, the progression of our character will depend on the acquisition of better weapons and parts, in addition to the acquisition of skill points. Once we get the weapons we need/want, we can improve their statistics with parts obtained from other weapons.

The closer to the level of the enemies, the more damage we will cause and the better we will resist. The different locations will reveal to us what rewards they will grant, this will make it easier for us to go directly to the equipment and weapons we need.

How to face the incursions?

Broadly speaking, there are two ways of dealing with situations: Head-on or stealthily. The first option is not difficult to understand and has only one step: Attack. Load your weapons and waste bullets. However, this option can be expensive on more than one occasion.

On the other hand, we have stealth. This second option is more expensive, slow and requires more patience. If you opt for stealth, there is a list of steps that you will have to follow to execute an assault well:

  1. Target Selection: Information is Power, Rainbow Six Siege players know well. Will we face off against Wolfs or against normal soldiers? In which area is the location located?
  2. Inventory: Bivouacs are bonfires scattered throughout the map that allow us to manage our inventory, craft, buy in the store and activate different buffs (+10 health regeneration for 50 minutes, for example). In short, prepare our inventory.
  3. Recognition: We are playing Ghost Recon Breakpoint. The name was not chosen for fun. The drone that we get in the first hour of play will be our best and most precious tool. This item allows us to mark the enemies to know their exact situation in real-time. We can also use binoculars if there are inhibitors.
  4. Planning: Where am I going to enter? What are the patrol routes? What path will I follow? Where can I hide once inside? Where is the objective? Where will I escape once? mission completed? We will have to answer all these questions while we do the reconnaissance.
  5. Execution: Follow the plan and be in constant communication in case of being accompanied by friends.

The weapons we carry must be consistent with what we are going to do. If our gameplay is melee, it makes no sense to carry a bolt-action rifle, for example.

Various personal tips

Here’s a quick round of tips for getting started.

  • Explore the “Options” menus to adjust the HUD to your needs. Adjust the sensitivity.
  • If you play on the console, disable or download the help of auto-aiming. When two enemies are together, you won’t always target the one you want.
  • They say that patience is an art. In Ghost Recon Breakpoint the enemies are better arranged in the locations, which will require that we wait for the right moments, especially for the changing of the guard. Take advantage of the objectives of opportunity: Enemies who walk alone or are in closed rooms, lone snipers in towers …
  • Eliminate thesnitches: They are characters who will sound the alarm when they see something strange and will ask for reinforcements even if they have not seen you. If things go wrong, at least you can solve it faster.
  • Drones: Eliminate the flying drones and leave the terrestrial ones to the last.
  • Put it all on: At the beginning of the game you will be given many weapons and pieces of clothing. Don’t be thin-skinned and equip yourself with anything that’s better than what you already have. You will have time to be selective, now your priority is to raise your team level.
  • Use the new camouflage system to hide between enemy lines and wait for your chance.
  • Fill your canteen in rivers and watch the resistance.

So far the guide of the first steps in Ghost Recon Breakpoint! You already know the basics to survive in Aurora, now it’s up to you. Between October 1 and 4, access to Ghost Recon Breakpoint will open. Once you take the first steps, the key is adaptation.
