Since December 2016, no need to be connected to the internet to watch your favorite Netflix series!
For the moment, the “Offline” option is only available for a handful of programs, but some subscribers have managed to work around this problem (and we’ll explain how in this article).

The US streaming platform now offers the ability to download some of its programs to watch offline. The good news is that now your Netflix series can follow you wherever you go. The bad news is that you are never going to finish this book that was offered to you at Christmas.
In an interview with CNBC in November, Ted Sarandos, director of programs at Netflix, said the company hopes to make more movies available for download, especially in countries with low-speed internet. For the moment, the website only downloads its original productions and some films.
Like Youtube or Amazon, Netflix shows its desire to adapt to the new consumption patterns of its users, who watch more and more videos on their phones.
How to download a Netflix video?
In order to watch Netflix offline, make sure you have a compatible device (phone or tablet with minimum iOS 8 or Android 4.4.2) and that your application is up-to-date.
Then log in to your account and go to the main menu. Click Available for Download. Here you can see the full list of programs you can save on your phone or tablet.
Netflix intends to make more and more downloadable videos so the catalog should evolve regularly.
Once you have found a series or movie that interests you, and you want to watch offline, tap the download icon (it’s the down arrow). A blue progress bar will appear.
Once the download is complete, an icon, always blue, will appear next to the selected episode or movie.
If you want to download a video in high resolution, go to the menu and click Settings . Then select the video quality you prefer in the Download tab .
How to download all videos from Netflix?
Netflix can not download its entire catalog of movies and series but there is software that can work around the problem.
It is important to note that this is not in accordance with Netflix’s terms of use , and that any user using any of these programs does so at their own risk.
These programs work like screenshots but for video. This means that you must play the entire video in order to record it. It’s a bit tedious, but it’s the only way to do it.
Find a screen capture software
There are many screen capture software. Some are free, like CamStudio or Screencast-O-Mati c, others are paying as Audials Moviebox and Camtasia Studio.
For this example, we will use CamStudio, which runs on Windows.
Edit region
Once you have installed the software, launch it. Also open a window with Netflix and the video you want to record.
By default, CamStudio only saves part of the screen. Go to the Region menu and select Full Screen to be sure to capture the full width of your video.
Edit the sound
By default, CamStudio does not record the sound of the computer. Go to the Options menu and select Record audio from speakers .
Reduce the O-Matic window
In the menu, click Options then Program Options and select Minimize program on start recording .
Start recording
Everything is ready for registration. Press the red button then go to Netflix and start the video. You must leave Netflix in full screen for the duration of the program you are recording.
Save the video
Return to the CamStudio window and click Stop. Now all you have to do is save the video to the file you want. You can then transfer your video file to your tablet or phone.
